How we researched
This review is based on Insta360 Ace Pro 2's official product page, its published specifications and pricing, and a comparison with leading alternatives in tech & gadgets. We have not used this product ourselves; scores reflect how it compares on paper. What the Insta360 Ace Pro 2 is
The Ace Pro 2 is Insta360's flagship traditional action camera, as opposed to its 360-degree models. It uses a single wide-angle lens co-engineered with Leica, a 1/1.3-inch 8K sensor and a flip-up touchscreen for framing selfies and vlogs.
Insta360 positions it as an upgrade over the original Ace Pro. The company says it has a dedicated imaging chip plus a 5nm AI chip, and claims 100% more computing power than the first model.
It measures 2.8 x 2.1 x 1.5 inches and weighs 182g (6.4 oz). It comes in Midnight Black and Arctic White.
Image quality and shooting modes
The headline spec is 8K video at up to 30fps, alongside 4K at up to 120fps and 1080p at up to 240fps for slow motion. Insta360 says the sensor offers 13.5 stops of dynamic range. Photos go up to 50MP, with DNG RAW export through the app or Insta360 Studio.
For low light, the brand points to PureVideo, a mode it says reduces noise while boosting brightness and detail, now available up to 4K60. Active HDR also reaches 4K60, up from 4K30 on the original Ace Pro.
There is a long list of extras: Leica color profiles, I-Log for color grading, a 2x Clarity Zoom that Insta360 says keeps 4K quality, FreeFrame Video for exporting in any aspect ratio, MegaView for wider shots with less distortion, plus Timelapse, TimeShift and Starlapse modes. FlowState stabilization and 360-degree horizon lock are included.
Durability, battery and audio
The camera is rated waterproof to 39ft (12m) without a case, or 197ft (60m) with the optional Dive Case. It is rated to operate from -4°F to 113°F. A removable lens guard protects the glass.
The 1800mAh battery is rated for up to 180 minutes, but that figure comes from lab testing at 1080p24 in Endurance Mode with Active HDR off, so expect less at higher settings. Insta360 says a 30W PD charger reaches 80% in 18 minutes and full in 47 minutes. The camera can also reverse-charge a phone.
For audio, Insta360 calls it the first action camera with an integrated wind guard that snaps on and off. Note that starting in July 2026, the company began moving from three microphones to two. It says testing confirmed no effect on function, both versions carry the same warranty, and you cannot choose which version you get.
Smart features for riders and creators
Motorcyclists get several useful tools. Road Mode turns the camera into a dashcam that records within a storage limit you set, and it can pair with helmet headsets from Sena, Cardo and others for dual-track audio and hands-free control.
Pre-Recording saves up to 120 seconds of footage before you press record, though only at 1440p or lower. Gesture control and Voice Control 2.0 help when the camera is out of reach, and Insta360 says gestures work with gloves and helmets.
Other features include magnetic mounting, timecode sync for Final Cut Pro and Premiere Pro, stats overlays from your phone or from Garmin, Apple and COROS, and an in-camera AI Highlights Assistant. The AI Warp effect gives three free uses per day, with additional uses charged.
Price and value
The product page we reviewed does not list a price, so check Insta360's store and major retailers for current pricing and bundles.
Value depends on how much of the feature set you will use. If you want 8K, a high-resolution flip screen, strong low-light modes and rider features like Road Mode, the Ace Pro 2 packs a lot into one body.
Budget for a fast microSD card, since there is no internal storage and the camera supports cards up to 1TB. Accessories such as the Dive Case, GPS Preview Remote and ND filters are sold separately.

FAQ
Is the Insta360 Ace Pro 2 waterproof?
Yes. Insta360 rates it waterproof to 39ft (12m) without a case. With the optional Dive Case, it is rated to 197ft (60m).
How long does the Ace Pro 2 battery last?
Insta360 rates the 1800mAh battery at up to 180 minutes, but that was measured at 1080p24 in Endurance Mode with Active HDR off. Higher resolutions and frame rates will likely shorten run time.
Does the Insta360 Ace Pro 2 shoot 8K?
Yes, it records 8K at up to 30fps in 16:9 and 2.35:1. For smooth slow motion, it offers 4K at 120fps and 1080p at 240fps.
What is the difference between the Ace Pro 2 and the original Ace Pro?
According to Insta360, the Ace Pro 2 adds a dedicated imaging chip, a wider 157° lens, 8K30 instead of 8K24, Active HDR and PureVideo up to 4K60, a larger and sharper 2.5-inch screen, a wind guard, a removable lens guard and deeper waterproofing at 39ft versus 33ft.
Does the Ace Pro 2 have built-in storage?
No. It has no internal storage and uses microSD cards up to 1TB. A fast, high-capacity card is a good idea for 8K and high-frame-rate recording.
Can the Ace Pro 2 work as a motorcycle dashcam?
Insta360 includes a Road Mode that records continuously within a storage limit you set. It also pairs with supported Sena, Cardo and other helmet headsets for audio and hands-free control.
Final verdict
The Insta360 Ace Pro 2 looks like a strong pick for anyone who wants a feature-rich action camera with a flip screen, high-resolution recording and dedicated low-light modes. Check current pricing, since the page lists none, and consider its weight and paid AI extras. If you only need simple 4K clips, a cheaper or lighter camera may serve you just as well.
